Double bill of grindhouse horrors from the 1970s directed by Bob
Clark. 'Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things' (1973) follows a
troupe of travelling actors who indulge their disturbed leader Alan
(Alan Ormsby)'s whim to practise voodoo rituals on a dead body.
After sneaking into a cemetery and performing the ritual, the other
actors are relieved to discover that the whole thing was an
elaborate prank. But when Alan starts acting even more bizarrely,
digging up bodies and getting married to a corpse in a freakish
ceremony, it turns out that the voodoo was successful after all.
Soon the forces of evil are causing the dead to rise from their
graves, hungry for human flesh. In 'Dead of Night' (1974) American
soldier Andy Brooks (Richard Backus) is fatally wounded while
serving in Vietnam but manages to find a way to stay among the
living, fulfilling the promise he made to his mother that he would
come home. Back in his neighbourhood he begins to show signs of
strange and violent behaviour and it soon becomes apparent that he
has turned into a vampire. He tries to lead a normal life but
things soon take a turn for the worse...
