Doesn't work as a meat thermometer

I bought this to keep track of my meat cooks in my oven and on the braai. As soon as I put the probe into the centre of the meat and closed the door, the temp immediately started rising? Basically it was reflecting the oven temp within the space of a minute, not the meat temp. Making it useless. I shifted the probe around as I thought maybe I'd pushed it right through? No, was all correct. No change. I sent the product back and chatted with the suppliers who told me the entire probe needed to be in the meat? It's 20cm long!? There's no piece of meat you'll fit that in, and it's supposed to measure the temp at the exact centre, not around about random temp? Makes no sense, this product is a waste of time. You could use it as a cool oven thermometer though! It reads the temps pretty accurately and I really liked the wireless unit to read the temps.
