Kindergarten Cop

Wed, 2 Jan 2013 | Review by: Micky B

If its pure family entertainment you're after, then this comedy thriller is right up your street! John Kimble (Shwarzenegger), a tough Austrian-born American cop, is on the trail of dangerus drug dealer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson) whom he must capture before Tyson can get to his ex-wife and son – for reasons made clear as the film goes along. While there is enough evidence to bring Tyson to trial: the main witness is unreliable, while the others are murdered one by one by Tyson and his mob. He is forced to go underground thgether with his partner,O'Hara (Pamela Reed. Being an ex-kindegarten schoolteacher, she manages to secure the perfect cover as a teacher at a large local pre-primary school. When O'Hara contracts food poisoning, Kimble – with no teaching experience whatsoever - arrives at the school as “a last-minute replacement for Miss O'Hara.” And here the fun really starts! The school's strict principal, Miss Schlowski (Linda Hunt) is understandably suspicious of Kimble, but as his unauthodox teaching methods seem to work with the kids she allows him free reign. Strangely enough, what wins her over is when he assaults one of the children's universally disliked and abusive father! Love interest is supplied when Kimble falls for pretty schoolteacher Joyce Palmri (Penelope Ann Miller) – who also happens to be Crisp's ex-wife! Oh yes...and Kimble just happens to keep his pet – a live ferret – in his sleeve at all times!
