Beverly Hills Chihuahua (DVD)

Although not an animated production (as I'd hoped it would be); this is nevertheless a good, entertaining 90-minute Walt Disney animal picture that's suitable for the whole family's enjoyment.

Our heroine, Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore), lives in the poshest of posh Beverly Hills homes with her owner, Auntie Vivienne Asch (Jamie Lee Curtis). Due to unforseen circumstances, Auntie Viv suddenly has to undertake a trip abroad, and foolishly opts to leave Chloe with her irresponsible niece, Rachel (Piper Perabo). Rachel, however, has plans to visit Mexico with her friends – and naturally takes Chloe with her. Alas, Chloe gets dognapped...and this is where the story really starts.

She escapes, though is now totally lost. However she meets Delgado (voiced by Andy Garcia), a friendly, elderly dog who's a former police German Shepherd. But alas, he has lost his sense of smell (similar to Trusty in Lady and the Tramp). Meanwhile, Papi (voiced by George Lopez) the chihuahua frrom back home who is madly in love with Chloe, starts his own private investigatioin. Will he find her before she is thrown into the dogfighting arena to be torn apart by the mean and vicious doberman, El Diablo?

Get ready for a hilarious fun-filled adventure starring Chloe, a diamond-clad ultra-pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua who gets lost while on vacation in Mexico.

Papi, an amusing Chihuahua who's crazy about Chloe, springs into action and heads south of the border to rescue her, while Chloe gets help from Delgado, her newfound friend and self-appointed protector.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a heartwarming and outrageously funny tale proving once again that good things do come in small packages. It's a real treat for the whole family.
