R.E.D. (DVD)

Action-packed and surprisingly light-hearted in some scenes, R.E.D. features a terrific first-rate cast who are at the top of their game, even though the older characters they portray are in their twilight years. You see, the lead characters are R.E.D., as in: Retired and Extremely Dangerous. Basically, they're former C.I.A. agents who are no longer in service, but still considered a risk to national security due to the secrets they've helped cover-up.

These former agents soon find themselves being targeted by none other than the current C.I.A. administration, so they have to band together and not only elude their pursuers, but also try and figure out why they're being hunted.

The cast are all game for this fun action romp, although Willis is strangely subdued, but the most fun is definitely being had by Mirren, Freeman and Malkovich. The action scenes are over-the-top, but that is to be expected from a movie based on a graphic novel. Even so, it never gets too unbelievable. It's exciting, fast-paced and tons of fun!
