Quiet, efficient operation
80 PLUS Platinum efficiency and Zero RPM Fan Mode mean that at low to medium loads, the fan doesn’t spin at all. And when you do push the HXi hard, the thermally controlled fan spins only as fast as it needs to.

But that’s not all. It’s quieter than most PSUs when the fan’s not spinning, too. The HXi is built with capacitors and other internal components specially selected to reduce coil whine and other electronic noise.

Missing cable, bad coil whine and poor quality cables

My unit arrived with a missing AC power cable and it is faulty as it has a very high level of coil whine which can be heard over all my other system components. After some investigation, it seems to be a very common issue with this model. I have read that a considerable amount of people have sent this model back due to this issue. I do not expect such poor quality control for this price. Apart from the issues, the cables that were actually in the box are horrible due to them being very stiff and feel cheap. Not a pleasure to work with. I would not recommend this. Rather purchase an EVGA Supernova instead.
