has never been clearer, and in California, health disparities from
one community to the next can be shockingly large. The California
Health Report at www.healthycal.org examines these gaps and reports
on their origins, and on how policy makers and communities are
trying to change the conditions that are largely responsible for
these disparities. This volume represents some of the best of that
