After the disappointment of Ang Lee's 2003 release Hulk, starring Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly and Nick Nolte, I had some trepidation about watching this sequel. But my hesitance was all for nothing, as this movie is one of the most fun and action-packed experiences I've had in a long time.

With a total reshuffle of the cast, and with a new director on board as well, this film takes a more "action oriented" approach as opposed to the previous film's more meandering "drama" stance. And it works. The action is relentless and fast-paced, and features some of the best visual effects of the year.

The storyline is continued from the first film, with Bruce Banner hiding in South America. He knows the U.S. Military is still looking for him so he works incognito at a bottling plant, while trying to find a cure for his "anger issues". But within the first 5 minutes, the movie starts becoming a furious chase, with Banner having to go on the run while trying to elude some particularly nasty Black-Ops soldiers, led by the maniacal Major Blonsky, played by Tim Roth. The fate of these two men become inextricably linked and their confrontations become frequent and more deadly. And in Blonsky, Banner's alter-ego will face his first true villain.

Of course, Elizabeth Ross, the former love of his life, gets entangled in the mess and once the action shifts back to the United States, it becomes a juggernaut of destruction and mayhem. It all builds up to an "all-stops-out" climax on the streets of New York City, bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. The performances are all brilliant, including William Hurt as General Ross, and Norton as Banner is an inspired choice. But full credit goes to Louis Leterrier, the director, for improving so much on Ang Lee's previous installment, and making an action-packed spectacle worthy of being a labelled a blockbuster.

And the final scene of the movie should have all serious Marvel comics fans salivating with anticipation, as a cameo apperance by another superhero promises the tantalizing adventures to come. (5 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

Scientist Bruce Banner desperately hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells and unleashes the unbridled force of rage within him: The Hulk.

Living in the shadows -- cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross -- Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross, and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power.

As all three grapple with the secrets that led to The Hulk's creation, they are confronted with a monstrous new adversary known as The Abomination, whose destructive strength exceeds even The Hulk's own.
