This book traces the history of relationships between external
agents and the local people. It seeks simply to indicate a number
of methodological points of reference which might serve as beacons
for anyone entering into a contractual relationship with rural
people.;Farmers in community lands inhabit a cultural universe of
their own which largely structures the actions to which they devote
their energy and their thoughts. The purpose of this book is to
help development agents to take better account of these people's
experiences and ways of thinking.
