All that we have, all that is sacred for which our fathers spent their lives is in jeopardy. If we value our homes and our country we must face conditions from all possible view-points, courageously, calmly and with resolute action. Loyal Americans must get together. Where laboring men believe that they have grievances, we must try to see conditions from their view-point, counseling and working together with them sympathetically and harmoniously. The ranks of labor teem with men of intense patriotism and with as high idealism as our own. They have proved this again and again. Now as loyal citizens, we must all get together and pull together to expose the plot- tings of the ultra-radicals and to save credulous laborers and ourselves from the disaster of mistaken and ruinous leadership. Every citizen knows in a general way that the present is a period of unrest, that the country is menaced by radicalism and that continued strikes (about 300 at the present time in the United States and Canada) are resulting in wage losses of hundreds of millions of dollars and in losses to industries of hundreds of millions of dollars,?thereby adding to the high cost of living.1 All this is known. Is it as clearly known that all this is mainly a result of a comprehensive, pre-conceived and carefully laid plan? Do the patriotic men of labor know of the effort to make them a tool to promote unrest, and to effect industrial and political revolution?
