Jimmy Murray and Tommy Lake grew up together in post war Jersey
City. The experiences they shared, during the winter and spring of
1959, would cement their relationship for a lifetime.
Bored with the routines of normal adolescent existance, Jim and
Tom began exploring the endless railroad system, which once
occupied Jersey City and the surrounding Meadowlands. Their
adventures became progressively more dangerous, often threatening
their lives. Unconcerned, the young duo tempted fate regularly,
while continuously seeking the ultimate adrenalin rush.
Matters reach a new level of intrigue when two young girls
become involved in their escapades. Their love interests force a
stabilizing effect on the two friends, but tranquility is short
lived. Eventually, Tom clashes with a mysterous character called
Hutchaneene, and Jim decides that revenge is in order.
Filled with incredible adventures, graphic details and tough
dialogue, "Tunnels" will transport the reader into their past and
trigger emotions not felt since their own adolescent years.
"Tunnels" will be difficult to put down, especially for anyone who
wants to re-ignite the spirit of adventure smoldering in their
soul!
"Tunnels" includes twenty-two illustrations by North Carolina
resident Carolyn DeMorest Serrano. Beautifully drawn, each
illustration compliments the story by recapturing the "Lost World"
of old Jersey City.
