n enjoyable, somewhat-raunchy romantic comedy from Judd Apatow, the man behind
The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and
Superbad. It never crosses the line, but you sometimes get the feeling that it's approaching it and bound to go over it. But it never does, so you are assured of a sweet, yet predictable rom-com, of a guy trying to get over a break-up, and deciding to spend a week on a tropical island. The only snag is that he discovers his ex-girlfriend is also staying at the same holiday resort with her new beau.
Much comic mishaps and hi-jinx ensue, and most of the belly laughs come from two regular Apatow actors, Paul Rudd and the hilarious Jonah Hill, who is in inspired form here.
So while the story is predictable, alot of the jokes are a bit fresh. (3 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)
