This superior murder thriller stars Kevin Costner, Demi Moore and William Hurt.

Right from the start, we get to see that Earl Brooks (Kevin Costner) – business owner and family man who has had the honour of being voted Portland Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the year – is a serial killer, who kills simply because he cannot prevent himself from doing so. His feeble attempts at reforming are thwarted at every turn by his alter ego, Marshall (a great scene-stealing performance by William Hurt).

In killing a young couple who are right in the act of making love: Earl is captured on cameral by an unpleasant young fellow in “Mr Smith” (Dane Cook). Smith approaches Earl with the pictures: not for money, but because he wants to accompany Earl and watch further killings – which really seem to turn him on!

Earl dotes on his cute daughter, Jane (Danielle Panabaker), even when she drops out of high school. But it appears that she might already have developed homicidal habits not dissimilar to his own!

Meanwhile, the officer assigned to the “serial killer” case, Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) is having problems of her own…

Unable to control his horrific addiction, Brooks gives in to his sadistic, all-too-real alter ego (William Hurt) and succumbs to his murderous urges.

But a pesky witness (Dane Cook) to his latest crime and a stubborn detective (Demi Moore) on the case add shocking new twists to an already terrifying game of cat and mouse.
