Bachelor Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Politics -
International Politics - Topic: Globalization, Political Economics,
grade: Good, Jacobs University Bremen gGmbH, course: Thesis, BA
Integrated Social Sciences, language: English, abstract: The study
examines possibility of future globalization backlash as a result
of trade and migration income distribution effects. By looking back
into the history of past globalization in the late 19th century,
more specially, during 1880-1914, the study defines the cases of
backlash. Coming back to the present, bearing in mind past
experiences, current contexts of trade and migration in the current
era of globalization are evaluated, in particular, the last 30
years. The study shows that, with a healthy dose of restriction and
safety net from the government, income distribution effect can be
controlled and therefore, a future of globalization is not a likely
outcome.
