The Closer - Season 4 (DVD, Boxed set)

This fourth season of The Closer has managed the near-impossible, it now ranks as my favourite police procedural TV series of all time. There are many reasons for this, namely the spot-on and often hilarious performances, the highly original storylines, and the constant suspense that can be conjured up during an interrogation of a suspect.

This season also features some very dramatic moments for alot of the cast, with the team facing the axe by the higher-ups in the department, and one of the team members facing the axe due to tension from within. Added to this and the constant deluge of cases, Chief Johnson also has an upcoming wedding to contend with, her own. And with her parents getting much more screen time this season, the laughs fly think and fast.

Chief Johnson might be the one in charge, but my favourite character is still the witty and mischievous Lt. Provenza. But in fairness, all the actors play their parts so well, I for one can't wait for the fifth season. (5 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

For the Atlanta transplant heading up the Priority Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, her position on this elite detective squad, which handles high-profile cases of a sensitive nature, is a tenuous balancing act.

She faces antagonistic roadblocks, even from her own peers within the department, and must manage a team that remains wary of her unconventional style.
