If you enjoyed Fly Away Home as much as I did, you’re going to want to own this one too. I know that I most certainly do!

When he moves with his parents from Montana to Florida, young Ray Eberhart (Logan Lerman) attends his new school for the first time. On the school bus, he falls foul of two bad-attitude kids in bully Chuck Muckle (Clark Gregg) and tall macho soccer girl Beatrice Leep (Brie Larsen). Also, he sees – for the first time – a mysterious athletic boy of about his own age (Cody Linley) whom he late learns is called Mullet Fingers.

A corrupt firm is about to clear a piece of land to build a pancake house – ignoring the presence of endangered baby burrowing owls that will die if the bulldozing goes ahead. Mullet Fingers – later to be helped by Ray and Beatrice – is on a one-man sabotage crusade to prevent progress from going ahead here.

Comedy relief is provided by worksite foreman Curly Branitt (Tom Blake Nelson), and not-too-bright police officer David Delinko (Luke Wilson).

Watch for an ageing Robert Wagner as the town mayor.

A great original song: “Good Guys Win” plays out with the end credits.

Family comedy based on the novel by Carl Hiaasen. When a Montana boy (Logan Lerman) moves to Florida, he unearths a disturbing threat to a local population of endangered owls. Along with his two schoolfriends, he takes on greedy land developers, corrupt politicians, and clueless cops in an attempt to protect his new environment.
