The Bourne Ultimatum (DVD)

One of the key factors that have made the Bourne movies so successful and enjoyable is their extraordinary sense of realism. No silly quips and one-liners from the hero, no romantic liaisons while on the run from bad guys, and no computer generated imagery (CGI) to make action scenes unbelievable. It's just a gritty and real action adventure. And this third installment is easily the best of the trilogy, although to be honest I did not enjoy the first one.

This time around though, Jason Bourne is getting closer to discovering the truth about who he was, while evading shady government assassins who are constantly trying to kill him. But instead of running away from the CIA, Bourne is taking the fight to them as we follow him to New York where all the answers can be found.

Ultimatum is even more action-packed than Supremacy, has terrific performances from our hero (Damon) and our villains (Allen, Strathairn, Glenn), and has a pay-off at the end which is well worth it. As far as action set-pieces go, the car chase scene stands out. Thought the Moscow City scene in Supremacy was ultra-realistic and scary? Try a chase scene in the crowded streets of New York City. It will surely keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. I don't know how they filmed it so well, it's tense just watching it. And remember, none of it is CGI, all actual vehicles getting demolished.

So, to sum up, a nerve-wracking and yet totally enjoyable action movie. Very similar to to M:I 3, a terrific end to a trilogy that has never underestimated its audience's intelligence. (5 out of 5 - By Carlisle Johnson)

The third chapter in the Jason Bourne trilogy (based on the novels by Robert Ludlum) actually begins before the events at the end of The Bourne Supremacy.

Bourne (Damon) is still trying to uncover his true identity and how it all ties in to the mysterious CIA program known as Treadstone. This time he's gonna need all the help he can get, but can he trust CIA operatives Nickey Parsons (Stiles) and Pamela Landy (Allen)? And now he also has to dodge an assassin who is determined to finish what others couldn't.

CIA Deputy Director Noah Vosen (Strathairn) has been put in charge of apprehending Bourne, but his motives are deadly. Motives which a man with secrets will do anything to protect.

They left him for dead, they killed his girlfriend, they stole his identity...the time has come for Jason Bourne to deliver his ULTIMATUM!
