Maxwell's long-awaited and much-delayed fourth studio album
'Black', his first for eight years, is the follow-up to 2001's
'Now' and the first in a projected trilogy called 'BlackSummers'
Night'. Maxwell has long been a favourite among fans of neo-soul,
eschewing hype and the limelight in favour of simply making good
records. The single 'Pretty Wings' gives a good indication of where
he is at on this album, channeling Al Green over a relaxed yet
sultry groove that sounds simultaneously classic and ultra-modern.

This is the definitive neo-soul album. This man has been away for 8 years and he comes back and blow everything away!
He is not only talented but is also very deep both musically and emotionally. As they sometimes say, there's gonna be a lot of pregnancies this year; this is buttery beautiful romantic music.
'Pretty Wings' is a pretty song which has been receiving a lot of radio airplay. The follow up single, 'Fistful of Tears' is also gorgeous. 'Stop the World' will go down in my personal history as the ultimate love song! It's on constant repeat on my iPod.
