The Miracle of Belle Isle

Thu, 1 Aug 2013 | Review by: Micky B

The title could well have been The Magic of Morgan Freeman, as this beautiful production is virtually a one-man show; the one man – of course - being Mr Freedman himself. He plays Monte Wildhorn – a one-time successful author of Western novels. However, his battle with alcoholism has long since dried up what had been his passion for writing, and he has retired to take summer residence in a lakeside cabin on picturesque Belle Isle, where he spends hours simply sitting and looking out to sea. He befriends the family next door – an attractive single mother Charlette O'Neil (Virginia Madsen) and her two young daughters manage to find their true fulfilments in life. Sure, that may not sound like much, but I have taken the liberty of awarding it FIVE STARS – and urge you to see it to find out why! .
