Become a master ninja
In Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on PS Vita you play as Ryu Hayabusa, a
master ninja of the Hayabusa Clan who must retrieve the Dark Dragon
Blade - an evil sister sword to his own weapon made from the bones of a
dark dragon and containing an unfathomable evil.
The game takes place in the same universe as Tecmo Koei's flagship
brawling series, Dead Or Alive, with the action unfurling in Japan and
the fictional Vigoor Empire. However, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is not
going to be a walk in the park.
In fact, Team Ninja's PS Vita debut is one of the toughest games you'll
encounter in the blockbuster launch line-up, so you'll need fast
fingers and every ounce of your gaming skill to conquer its unforgiving
enemies and gargantuan bosses.
Girl with the golden axe
In Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on PS Vita you get the chance to play
sections of the game as Rachel, a Fiend Hunter armed with a huge golden
axe. Rachel's missions revolve around slaying demons, and, not being a
ninja, her attacks and special moves are completely different to Ryu's.
As well as helping to break up the gameplay, Rachel's missions flesh
out the story of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus by allowing you to see the
events of the game unfold from a different perspective. Alongside this
additional story content, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus features a new
difficulty setting specifically for PS Vita called Hero mode.
Hero mode enables auto guarding and evasion when your character's
health is low, while also granting infinite Ninpo attacks, which is
perfect for clearing large swarms of enemies.
If this is your first time playing a Ninja Gaiden game, we strongly
recommend that you play through initially in Hero mode. Once you have
conquered it, up the ante a little and put your ninja skills to the
test on a higher difficulty.
Wield the Dragon Sword
Gameplay in Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus takes the form of a third person
action adventure that sees you controlling your shuriken-wielding death
dealer through a variety of different levels. These range from a
peaceful Japanese village to a huge airship flying thousands of feet
above the ground.
Naturally, being a ninja, Ryu is a dab hand at running up walls,
backflipping and dispatching enemies with his trusty Dragon Sword. When
battling enemies, combat is based on combining light and heavy attacks
to form a devastating flurry of punches, kicks and blows using Ryu's
killer weapons.
These include the Dragon Sword, Dragon's Claw and Tiger's Fang twin
blades, a nunchaku and a staff. Each weapon can be upgraded by visiting
one of the many blacksmiths located throughout the game's vast world,
so be sure to spend well-earned experience points on bolstering your
favourite weapon's power.
Ryu is also able to learn new attack techniques by searching for
scrolls on the bodies of dead ninja, as well as harnessing the forces
of the Ninpo - ninja magic used to attack enemies or shield him from
damage.
To activate Ninpo, press the Triangle and Circle buttons at the same
time, then tap the PS Vita system's rear touch pad to power it up. You
can also use the touchscreen to switch to a first person view when
firing Ryu's bow and arrow or shuriken, ideal for exacting
long-distance attacks against enemies on rooftops or ledges.
