As the grandson of Guiseppe Rossi, the great 19th century Florentine
impressionist painter, Roberto Cavalli was destined to be a great
artiste. As a student at the Florence Art Academy in the early 1960s,
Cavalli’s skills in textile printing were already garnering him
attention in fashion when he caught the eye of major Italian hosiery
factories—his skill and innovation in textile printing would bring him
to the forefront of the fashion world.
In 1970, Cavalli showed his first collection of ready-to-wear in Paris
and by 1972, opened his first boutique in Saint-Tropez. Cavalli
continued to experiment with textiles in 1994 he invented a technique
for sandblasting denim to reaffirm his place at the cutting edge of
fashion.
Today, the Cavalli brand is sold in more than 50 countries worldwide,
and the name Cavalli is synonymous with a glamorous Italian lifestyle.
His sexy clothes and bold animal prints have made Cavalli a favourite
among the rich and famous and have afforded him the opportunity to
expand his brands to include menswear, underwear, accessories, vodka,
perfume and cologne.
Fall 2002 saw the first of Cavalli’s fragrances —Roberto Cavalli, and
though a fresh and lively scent, it is still very bold and sensual like
his clothing. Many other popular perfumes and colognes followed such as
Roberto Cavalli for Men, Serpentine and Roberto Cavalli Black. Cavalli
perfumes and colognes are offered through ITF Cosmetics which have
helped the Cavalli fragrance line establish a strong presence to ensure
that the Cavalli brand stays true to the ideals of its visionary.
