The Irreverent Anti-hero

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 | Review by: Channon S

A well-worn storyline saved by a naughtily scandalous sense of humour and some amazing graphics. Deadpool is an anti-hero with an outrageously irreverent and even crass sense of humour, reminiscent of the protagonist from The Mask movie [1994]. Mixed in with this is a genuine, if slightly crazy, love story and a few poignant moments that seem bizarre when compared with the derring-do of the rest of the film. The humour can be a bit base and is a little bit forced at certain points and a lot of the characters seem to be window dressing to allow the viewer to enjoy the full extent of the zaniness of Ryan Reynold's antics. Recommended for those who snigger at dirty jokes but definitely not for young audiences or anyone even slightly reserved in their sense of humour.
