Poor quality and guarantees not honoured

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 | Review by: Erin K.

I did not buy through Loot (bought at Makro), but Ryobi SA does not honor its' guarantees. The battery on mine packed up shortly after purchase (within two months) and even though it has a two year guarantee they informed me this does not apply to "accessories". Had a similar problem with another drills charger (also an accessory) and an "industrial quality" angle grinder that caught fire - all not repaired even though within guarantee period. I will never waste money buying a Ryobi products again! Jerome Kiley

Great service from Ryobi's service agent

Sat, 3 Dec 2016 | Review by: Cecil D.

I on the other hand have received great service from Stevens & Co. (Pty) Ltd. in Port Elizabeth after i purchased 18V LITHIUM-ION DRIVER DRILL KIT from Builders Express in Walker Drive whom from Builders i haven't always received good service. Stevens & Co. asked me to return the charger with the proof of purchase and they replaced it with no problems what so ever and it was a few days over the warranty period. Ryobi isn't Hilti but there is a serious price difference and Ryobi tool work hard.

Ryobi battery problems

Sun, 8 Jan 2017 | Review by: Ian

I bought 3 drills - for each of our 3 venues, over a period of a year. the main attraction was the price, and also the fact that all my other ryobi tools have been good workhorses. the drills are seldom used - NEVER a possibility of 'overuse'. all 3 have have had total battery failure - at any time between 6 and 14 months. I bought them at makro. so far i have got only one battery replaced (and that took 3 months - eventually makro got tired of my visits and just gave me a new one from their display. i have been waiting a month for ryobi durban to 'assess my claim' for a second. you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!
