The Battleship Potemkin (Russian, DVD)

This film recounts the Krondstadt Navy mutiny at Odessa which sparked off the 1905 Russian Revolution.

As a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the revolution, Eisenstein's masterpiece boasts inventive, rapid-cutting camera work (the film contains 1,300 separate shots) and one of the most famous sequences in the history of film: the massacre on the Odessa Steps.
