Eagle Eye (DVD)

What a visceral non-stop thrill ride this turned out to be. This rip-roaring action thriller kept me entertained from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment, as we witness two complete strangers, Jerry and Rachel, getting called by a mysterious woman who proceeds to know their every move, and who goes to any and all lengths to ensure that our "heroes" remain on the run from the authorities.

This chase movie becomes more than just a well-made generic action flick. The excitement is continuous as Jerry and Rachel have to get out of one tight scrape after another. The acting is uniformly good, with a good supporting cast which includes Billy Bob Thornton and Rosario Dawson as the agents tasked with bringing the fugitives in. But the most impressive quality of the movie has to be the brilliantly-shot action set-pieces. Chase scenes that are inventive, explosive (literally) and slam-bam-bang for your buck!

The story also provides a surprising twist halfway through which ramps up the thrills and mystery and adds some intelligence to the whole proceeding, and makes it one of the smartest action thrillers of the year. (5 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

Jerry Shaw and Rachel Holloman were complete strangers at the beginning of the day, but that changed the instant a strange woman called to threaten both their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

Suddenly forced into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, Jerry and Rachel must now take orders from a woman who's using everyday technology to track and control their every move.

As the situation intensifies and the hapless duo are deemed the country's most wanted fugitives, they must work together in order to discover who it was that turned their lives upside down, and what they can do to thwart the criminal mastermind's cunning yet diabolical plan.
