This second movie adventure featuring Dan Brown's heroic symbologist Robert Langdon, is actually a story that took place before the events of The Da Vinci Code
, but since that movie became a huge worldwide success, the plot has been somewhat tweaked to accomodate the timeline.
And after the hype and subsequent disappointment of The Da Vinci Code, the filmmakers have to be commended on making this sequel more thrilling and much more suspenseful with a storyline that doesn't overpower the movie, but instead pushes the plot along at a breakneck pace.
The acting is well-rounded and uniformly good, as would be expected from a top-notch cast which includes the likes of Ewan McGregor, Armin Muehler Stahl and Stellan Skarsgaard. And the mystery this time around is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat as we follow Langdon through the streets of the Vatican City, in another race against time. Exciting and much better than The Da Vinci Code. (4 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)
When Robert Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati - the most powerful underground organization in history - he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church.
When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist.
Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.
