Prison Break - Season 4 (DVD, Boxed set)

The fourth and final season of this exciting series begins with one of the most twist-filled episodes, as Michael has made his decision to go after The Company and exact revenge for all the torment they've put him and his brother Lincoln through. But of course, The Company has plans to eliminate everyone connected to James Whistler now that he's free.

The opening episode has so many shocking moments as some important characters meet their fates quite quickly, and this sets the tone for the season, in that everyone is expendable. And when you see the story develop and the plan that Michael puts in motion, it's easy to see that not everyone is going to be alive at the end. And that all adds to the excitement and enjoyment.

There are some good surprises, but they are ones which I won't divulge. As for the plot believability, it's still quite over-the-top but all guilty pleasures usually are. The tension, suspense and close calls all get pumped up to the 10th degree and then some. Add to this a seemingly unstoppable new hitman who is out to wipe everybody out, and the action is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat.

This season is such a huge improvement over season 3, and is set mostly in Los Angeles, and thankfully we finally find out what The Company's masterplan was. The ending though, while sad and bittersweet is a justifiable one and finally brings this tale to a fitting close. (5 out of 5, by Carlisle Johnson)

The boys are back for the final season, and everyone had better stay out of their way.
