This book is a pioneering study on restructuring the Chinese theory of justice, against a background of hegemonic dominance of Western theory of justice and of the collective aphasia of China's intellectual and academic communities in this aspect. It discusses the problems caused by the dominating Western theory of justice and the urgent needs for a universal theory of justice. It delineates the origin and the development of the Chinese intellectual history of justice and explores ways to address justice-related issues in the contemporary world. The book initiates a dialogue on the theory of justice in the world and stimulates further debate and research. In recent years, studies on justice-related issues, such as fairness and impartiality, have become increasingly popular. Undoubtedly, this has to do with the various manifestations of injustice, not only in regions and countries, but also in the world's economic and political orders. Currently, the world is dominated by the Western theory of justice, which has led to a series of irrational actions of injustice by certain Western countries in the name of justice. The world is in urgent need of a universal theory of justice acceptable to all countries to guide their acts in international affairs. The book provides a modern interpretation of classical Chinese institutional ethics and reconstructs the Chinese theory of justice in order to initiate a dialogue between the Western and Eastern world on the theory of justice, and to contribute to the establishing of a universal theory of justice in the real sense.
