I started writing in earnest more than four years ago. Faced with prospect of imminent demise, I embarked on my long delayed memoire. Here then is a collection of my best columns over the course of these past four years. As the readers will see the prime focus of these columns has been on relationships, the problems of aging, the promise of technology and random musings on a diverse range of subjects from the lure of marmite to the new type of books in the future I do not know what the future holds in the limited span left for me, but this I do know, there is a bliss to be found in our lives humdrum, though they may be. And it behooves us to savor them as much as we can. I have really enjoyed researching and writing these pieces and I hope you too will dip into the book and read and enjoy these columns.

On November 26, 2008 the author and his wife were taken hostage by terrorists in a hotel in Mumbai. Over the next few days, they faced the possibility of death by the terrorists%u2019 bullets or by fire. They were rescued a few days later but, as the author put it, "he thought of dying on the morrow helps wonderfully to concentrate your mind on things that you have left undone and the little time that you may have left in the world. After their successful rescue, he was urged by his family and friends to write about their experiences. And that is where this book begins. It ranges over a wide spectrum of personalities and issues- from Obama's meteoric rise to the musings of Mandela, from Pakistan's imminent collapse to new ideas for Afghanistan, from heart disease to caregivers, from relationship with children to sex. In short a delightful read.
