Entwicklung des WarmpreBverfahrens. Da Deutschland arm an Metallerzen, besonders an Kupfer und Zinn ist, und diese Rohstoffe auch vor dem Kriege fast ausschlieBlich aus dem Auslande bezogen wurden, hat schon fruhzeitig das Be streben eingesetzt, mit diesen Metallen moglichst hauszuhaIten und ihre Verar beitung auf das sorgsamste durchzubilden. Anstatt der hochhaItigen Bronzen mit 80--;'-95% Cu, Rest Sn oder RotguB mit 80--;. -90% Cu, einem Zusatz von Sn, Rest Zn versuchte man billigere, kupfer arme Messinglegierungen zu verwenden. Nun zeigte es sich, daB bei Messing unter lii3 % Cu beim GieBen erhebliche Schwierigkeiten dadurch eintreten, daB die Legierung zum Seigern und zu RiB bildungen neigte. Die Festigkeitseigenschaften dieser Legierungen waren auch nicht gunstig. Bei den Versuchen, Messing mit hochstens 60% Cu zu verwenden, stellte: man fest, daB diese Legierungen sich zwar schlecht vergieBen, aber sich desto besser warm schmieden lassen. Das Warmpressen von Messing ist Ende des vorigen Jahrhunderts zuerst in Deutschland eingefuhrt worden. Bereits im Jahre 1891 hat die Deutsche Delta Metall-Gesellschaft, Dusseldorf-Grafenberg, MetallpreBteile unter einem Stanz hammer hergestellt, und um die Jahrhundertwende hat die AEG die Erzeugung von gepreBten Messingteilen fiir elektrische Kontaktstucke, Ausrustungsteile fUr Gas- und Wasserleitungen in groBerem Umfange aufgenommen. Erst spater, nachdem PreBteile nach England ausgefuhrt worden waren, hat sich auch dort die Herstellung eingefiihrt. In amerikanischen Zeitschriften wird berichtet, daB die Erzeugung von PreBteilen erst wahrend des Krieges aufgenommen und haupt sachlich zur Herstellung von Zunderteilen verwendet wurde."
