Alicia Witt and Jason London star in this family comedy directed by Kevan Peterson. When Melanie (Witt) and Phil (London) ask their son Danny (Julian Feder) what he wants for his birthday, they are greeted with the response that every parent dreads: a dog. When Danny selects his dog from the local shelter he lovingly names her Shelly in honour of all sheltered dogs. Realising that Shelly has a talent, Danny decides to enter her in the illustrious Wiener Dog Nationals race. Only one thing stands in their way: Ms Merryweather (Morgan Fairchild) and her champion dog Princess.
Gayle Batt is the kind of lady who throws elegant cocktail parties
while wearing layers of silk chiffon, dripping pearls, and eight
months' pregnant. She is the kind of woman who says "anyhoo" and
calls everyone "Dahlin'" or a special pet name. With hair, makeup,
and nails always done to perfection, she triumphs rather than
crumbles when infidelity, alcoholism, cancer, or any form of
adversity attempts to shatter her family. Endearing and enduring,
Gayle is a big-hearted, strong-willed true Southern belle--and she
taught her son everything he knows about being a man. "From the Hardcover edition."
Nicolas Cage stars in this political drama based on the aftermath of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Louisiana congressman Colin Pryce (Cage), representing New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, finds himself in the spotlight when a British Petroleum oil rig explodes in his territory. As the little-known politican goes on national television to beg for aid to help those affected by the spill, he unwittingly becomes an overnight celebrity, much to the delight of his fame-hungry wife Deborah (Connie Nielsen). As Pryce's power and status grows, he finds himself once again making the headlines but this time for being caught having an affair with a married woman. Can Pryce fight off the unwanted media attention to achieve his goal of running for senate?
