All ten episodes of the award-winning mini-series based on the real-life experiences of American paratroopers who fought in Europe during the Second World War. From their training in Camp Toccoa, Georgia, through their landing in Normandy as part of the D-Day offensive, their participation in the Battle of the Bulge, and all the way up to the final surrender of the German forces, the series follows the adventures of Easy Company, a unit noted for its skill and bravery, but which also suffered a high number of casualties in its journey across Europe. Each episode also features excerpts from actual interviews with surviving members of the company.
Collected episodes of two late '60s gang drama series. 'Spindoe' was a spinoff from an earlier Granada drama 'The Fellows'. At the end of that series, Alec Spindoe (Ray McAnally) had been sent to prison but here he is on the outside yet again. After his time inside, he attempts to pick up where he left off but a bigshot crime Czar and a private dick are dogging his every move. Features six one-hour episodes. 'Big Breadwinner Hog' followed the rise of a career hoodlum, Hog (Peter Egan), against a backdrop of the London gangland. Unapologetic and brutal in its depiction of violence, the series was so ahead of its time that it was eventually pulled from screens before the end of its run - the only programme to have achieved that honour at the time!
The complete 1970s TV series following a warrior queen's attempts to hold the Romans at bay in first century Britain. When her husband, the ruler of a Celtic clan, dies, Queen Boudicca (Si‚n Phillips) takes the throne. Though the late King promised half of his land to the Romans upon his death, this isn't enough to satisfy the merciless Roman Procurator, Catus Decianus (Nigel Hawthorne), who wants more. Queen Boudicca and her clan may well be forced to fight the might of the Roman Empire if they are to maintain their own kingdom and Celtic identity.
Collection of four made-for-TV films, written by David Leland, which paint a picture of Thatcher's Britain in the early 1980s. 'Flying Into the Wind' (1982) stars Graham Crowden in a story of parents who wish to remove their children from the education system and have them home schooled. 'Made in Britain' (1982) is a critically acclaimed study of alienation and disaffection starring Tim Roth. Skinhead Trevor (Roth) is a car thief with no regard whatsoever for authority figures. His social worker realizes that Trevor is highly intelligent, but any attempts to control his behaviour have disastrous results - Trevor is set on the road to self-destruction. 'Birth of a Nation' (1982) follows Mr Figg (Jim Broadbent), an old-fashioned school teacher who is forced, abruptly, to face up to the changing ways of teaching. Finally, 'R.H.I.N.O.' (1982) follows Angela (Deltha McLeod), a black girl living in London, trying to deal with the inequalities of a changing society.
Classic downbeat British crime thriller, directed by Neil Jordan. But when he eventually finds her, the naive George is dismayed to find that Cathy and Simone are lovers.
