Steven Spielberg directs this heart-warming family tale of friendship between a boy and his pet alien. Young Elliott (Henry Thomas) has not had a happy home life since his parents split up. Living with his mother, Mary (Dee Wallace), he is constantly fighting with his older brother, Michael (Robert MacNaughton), and little sister, Gertie (Drew Barrymore). When Elliott finds an alien in his backyard one night, he takes the creature in, christening him 'ET' and aiding him in his efforts to contact his mother ship. ET has various amazing powers, including the ability to heal and make objects levitate, but his growing bond with Elliott is threatened by the fact that government officials are already trying to track him down.
Box set containing all four 'Critters' titles. In 'Critters' (1986), eight hungry aliens have escaped from a prison planet and land near a small town in Kansas. They take over the Brown household, eat the goldfish and then go after the human occupants. Outer space bounty hunters arrive on Earth to subdue the critters. 'Critters 2' (1988) is set two years after the first set of 'critters' wrought havoc in a small Kansas town. Now another batch are hatching. In 'Critters 3' (1991), the flesh-eating critters are back, moving up in the world by way of the elevator shaft in an apartment building. As usual they're hungry and the tenants are on the menu. Finally, in 'Critters 4' (1991), the critters have almost all been cleared off the planet Earth. Only two critter eggs remain and these have been ordered to be blasted off into space by the Intergalactic Council. But the pod carrying them is unwittingly picked up by a space salvage crew.
Perhaps the archetypal 1970's American cop show, Dave Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson (David Soul) are plainclothes cops patrolling the streets of an unnamed city--portrayed by Los Angeles--in a 1973 red Grand Torino. Dark-haired Starsky, who has an unflagging appetite and a quick quip for any situation, and tall, blonde, heart-throb Hutch, who is more soulful and serious, are not just partners on the job--they are also close friends. But their unorthodox methods are endlessly frustrating for their boss, Captain Dobey (Bernie Hamilton).
The duo has a powerful ally on the street, however, in the police informant Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas), a shady character who provides Starsky and Hutch with plenty of inside information. Full of tyre-screeching chases, shoot-outs, running and jumping up and down fire escapes and across busy roads, STARSKY AND HUTCH has plenty of street-wise action and humour. Contains series 1 to 4 of STARKSY AND HUTCH.
Double bill of the Wes Craven Horror classic. 'The Hills Have Eyes' (2006), is a remake of his 1977 classic of the same name, about the Carters, an idyllic American family travelling through the great American southwest. The family's trip takes a detour into an area closed off from the public, but more importantly from society. An area originally used by the U.S. Government for nuclear testing that was intended to be empty - or so they thought. When the Carters' car breaks down at the old site, they're stranded - or are they? The Carters soon realise that what seemed like a car casually breaking down, might actually be a trap, perpetrated by the inhabitants of the site planning a gruesome massacre. 'The Hills Have Eyes 2' (2007),is the sequel to the popular 2006 horror remake. An isolated desert research camp has been mysteriously abandoned, and now it's up to an elite unit of soldiers to uncover the truth about the scientists who vanished without a trace. Their attention is soon diverted by a distress signal emitting from a distant mountain range, the squadron quickly regroups and sets out to investigate. Unbeknownst to the soldiers, however, is the fact that these are the very same hills where the Carter family recently fell prey to a flesh-eating pack of hideously deformed mutants. As the ranks of the cavalry unit steadily begin to dwindle, it soon becomes obvious that their guns provide little defense from an evil driven by hunger to commit the ultimate crime against humanity.
