Computer-Aided Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: Developments, Applications, and Future Perspectives is an ideal resource for biomedical engineers and computer scientists, clinicians and clinical researchers looking for an understanding on the latest technologies applied to oral and maxillofacial surgery. In facial surgery, computer-aided decisions supplement all kind of treatment stages, from a diagnosis to follow-up examinations. This book gives an in-depth overview of state-of-the-art technologies, such as deep learning, augmented reality, virtual reality and intraoperative navigation, as applied to oral and maxillofacial surgery. It covers applications of facial surgery that are at the interface between medicine and computer science. Examples include the automatic segmentation and registration of anatomical and pathological structures, like tumors in the facial area, intraoperative navigation in facial surgery and its recent developments and challenges for treatments like zygomatic implant placement.
This book constitutes the post-conference proceedings of the First MICCAI Workshop on Medical Applications with Disentanglements, MAD 2022, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2022, in Singapore, on September22, 2022. The 8 full papers presented in this book together with one short paper were carefully reviewed and cover generative adversarial networks (GAN), variational autoencoders (VAE) and normalizing-flow architectures as well as a wide range of medical applications, like brain age prediction, skull reconstruction and unsupervised pathology disentanglement.
This book constitutes the Second Automatization of Cranial Implant Design in Cranioplasty Challenge, AutoImplant 2021, which was held in conjunction with the 24th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2021, in Strasbourg, France, in September, 2021. The challenge took place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7 papers are presented together with one invited paper, one qualitative evaluation criteria from neurosurgeons and a dataset descriptor. This challenge aims to provide more affordable, faster, and more patient-friendly solutions to the design and manufacturing of medical implants, including cranial implants, which is needed in order to repair a defective skull from a brain tumor surgery or trauma. The presented solutions can serve as a good benchmark for future publications regarding 3D volumetric shape learning and cranial implant design.

The presented solutions can serve as a good benchmark for future publications regarding 3D volumetric shape learning and cranial implant design.
