As authors, we are convinced that the time has finally arrived in
academe for an extensive, experience?based, firsthand, seamless
examination of what we are calling crossover pedagogy. There is no
book?length examination of facultystudent affairs administrators
collaboration in the academic realm anywhere. Nobody has yet to
produce a case?based, hands?on, book?length treatment of how (and
why) faculty and student affairs administrators can co?teach,
co?author, and co?consult with one another as co?equal educators
and campus leaders-with each group complementing the other in terms
of their special skills, knowledge, background, and experiences.
Without coming to practical terms with the case for collaboration
that the above authors make, the why rationale developed in these
publications on the topic of faculty?administrator collaboration
(sometimes referred to as "blended" efforts) around the
teaching?learning venture is lost in the logistics of technical
policy issues and challenges.

This book introduces various 3D printing systems, biomaterials, and
cells for organ printing. In view of the latest applications of
several 3D printing systems, their advantages and disadvantages are
also discussed. A basic understanding of the entire spectrum of
organ printing provides pragmatic insight into the mechanisms,
methods, and applications of this discipline. Organ printing is
being applied in the tissue engineering field with the purpose of
developing tissue/organ constructs for the regeneration of both
hard (bone, cartilage, osteochondral) and soft tissues (heart).
There are other potential application areas including tissue/organ
models, disease/cancer models, and models for physiology and
pathology, where in vitro 3D multicellular structures developed by
organ printing are valuable.
This detailed volume explores the continuing techniques of studying
RNA-protein complexes and interactions as research in these areas
expand. After an introductory chapter, the book continues with ways
to purify RNA-protein complexes assembled in cells or in isolated
cellular extracts, methods for measuring various biochemical
activities of RNA-interacting proteins or ribonucleoproteins,
biochemical methods for measuring direct RNA-protein contact, as
well as various new or innovative methods pertinent to the subject.
Written for the highly successful Methods in Molecular Biology
series, chapters contain brief introductions to their respective
topics, lists of the necessary materials and reagents,
step-by-step, readily reproducible laboratory protocols, and tips
on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. Authoritative and
up-to-date, RNA-Protein Complexes and Interactions: Methods and
Protocols provides a set of useful protocols, both basic and
advanced, designed to inspire researchers working with RNA and
RNA-interacting proteins.

The book focuses on four broad topics related to trapping of
agriculturally important tephritid fruit flies, namely i) lures and
traps, ii) invasion biology and detection of infestations, iii)
attract and kill systems, and iv) trade regulations and risk
assessment. This comprehensive structure progresses from the
biological interaction between insect and lures/traps to the
area-wide use of trapping systems to the utilization and impact of
trapping data on international trade. The chapters include accounts
of earlier research but are not simply compendia and instead
evaluate past and current work as a tool for critical analysis and
proposal of productive avenues for future work. At present there is
no book available that deals with fruit fly trapping in such a
broad context. Our book fills this gap and serves as a global
reference for both those interested in fruit flies specifically as
well as anyone dealing with the threat of invasive agricultural
insects in general.
This book examines epistemic pluralism, a brand new area of
research in epistemology with dramatic implications for the
discipline. Challenging traditional assumptions about the nature of
justification, an expert team of contributors explores pluralism
about justification, with compelling first-order results -
including analysis of the various requisites one might want to
impose on the notion of justification (and therefore of knowledge)
and why. It is shown why a long-lasting dispute within epistemology
about the nature of justification has reached a stalemate and how
embracing a different overarching outlook might lead to progress
and aid better appreciation of the relationship between the various
epistemic projects scholars have been pursuing. With close
connections to the idea of epistemic relativism, and with specific
applications to various areas of contemporary epistemology (such as
the debate over epistemic norms of action and assertion, epistemic
peers' disagreement, self-knowledge and the status of philosophical
disputes about ontology) this fascinating new volume is essential
reading for scholars, researchers and advanced students in the
discipline.
This book provides a systematic presentation of the principles and
practices behind the synthesis and functionalization of graphene
and grapheme oxide (GO), as well as the fabrication techniques for
transparent conductors from these materials. Transparent conductors
are used in a wide variety of photoelectronic and photovoltaic
devices, such as liquid crystal displays (LCDs), solar cells,
optical communication devices, and solid-state lighting. Thin films
made from indium tin oxide (ITO) have thus far been the dominant
source of transparent conductors, and now account for 50% of indium
consumption. However, the price of Indium has increased 1000% in
the last 10 years. Graphene, a two-dimensional monolayer of
sp2-bonded carbon atoms, has attracted significant interest because
of its unique transport properties. Because of their high optical
transmittance and electrical conductivity, thin film electrodes
made from graphene nanosheets have been considered an ideal
candidate to replace expensive ITO films. Graphene for Transparent
Conductors offers a systematic presentation of the principles,
theories and technical practices behind the structure-property
relationship of the thin films, which are the key to the successful
development of high-performance transparent conductors. At the same
time, the unique perspectives provided in the applications of
graphene and GO as transparent conductors will serve as a general
guide to the design and fabrication of thin film materials for
specific applications.
This volume is about the social identities of young Indigenous
people in contemporary Australia, based on fieldwork in the rural
community of Yarrabah, in Queensland. This case study of Yarrabah
is based on seventeen ethnographic interviews with women and men in
their twenties. With the aim of exploring how diverse social
discourses have influenced the social identities of young
Indigenous people in contemporary Australia, this book represents
the life histories of these young people in Yarrabah in the context
of both the institutions with which they interact and the everyday
shape of life in Yarrabah. This volume also provides new material
for discussion of the ways in which Indigenous value systems,
broadly understood by the participants to be based on collectivism,
constantly come into conflict with Western values based on
individualism. While the young Indigenous people of Yarrabah do
continuously interact not only with multi-cultural Australia but
also with global influences, they are constantly aware of their own
distinctiveness in both contexts.
This book introduces readers to the concepts of sustainability and
philosophy of slowness for the management of public entities such
as cities or regions. While many urban communities face economic
challenges that clearly show the limitations of growth and
ever-increasing speed, this book explores an alternative,
thought-provoking standpoint in five chapters. The first chapter
explains the importance and essence of slowness, smallness and
sustainability for public organizations, while the second addresses
the concept of "slow life" in an emotional society. Chapter three
examines the issue of "slow management" and presents arguments for
the value of small businesses as the true foundation of the
economy. Chapter four rounds out the coverage with a focus on
agriculture. Finally, in chapter five, the authors discuss the
overall benefits of a "slow and curvy" management style in order to
provide happiness, economic and social sustainability.

This book explores the 1907 Korean Revival Movement from a self
psychological perspective. The examination of the psychological
processes in the movement based on Heinz Kohut's self psychology
can shed light on religious experiences as selfobject experiences
by identifying the sense of defeatedness and helplessness that
Korean people experienced under Japanese occupation as what Kohut
calls self-fragmentation of the Korean group self and explaining
its therapeutic functions which facilitate potential for the
narcissistic nourishment of the fragmented group self leading to
renewed self-esteem, transformation, and empowerment of the Korean
people. Korean people in the early 1900s experienced abuses and
oppression by corrupt officials and exploitation by Japanese
government. Through religious experiences which emphasized the
individual repentance, the experience of God through the spirit,
emphasis on prayer, and eschatological faith, the Korean Revival
Movement in 1907 enabled its followers to experience mirroring and
idealizing selfobjects which function as a role of transforming the
lower shape of narcissism into the higher one.
The book is the first attempt to offer a holistic and integrated
exploration of the political-economic framework underpinning
economic regionalism. In doing so it provides a much-needed
contribution to the literature on international political economy,
international relations and Asian political economy in relation to
economic regionalism. The existing literature provides broad
generalizations and limited discussion on economic integration
(i.e. free trade agreements, FTA) with most analyses of regionalism
generally contained to the field of economics with a focus on the
welfare implications of FTAs, both for participating countries and
the world as a whole. Readers of this book can view economic
regionalism from a variety of perspectives with input from Chinese,
Japanese and Korean research institutes, business and industry
groups, and government officials. Drawing on the considerable
country experience and expertise of the authors, the book attempts
to unravel the paradox of the market-driven economic globalization
process (regionalism) and address a serious gap in the current
literature relating to the political-economic characteristics and
strategies of China, Japan and Korea in relation to economic
regionalism.
