Time spent in service to country, community, and family is never wasted nor forgotten. In 1978, Dick Haggmark died at the age of 47 after spending two and a half years in a semi-comatose state going from hospital to nursing home to veteran's hospital. He was injured at work and then suffered a massive heart attack and stroke that left him unable to speak or walk. When he was in his early 20s, he joined the Army. As a civilian he served as a volunteer fireman and auxiliary policeman for over 20 years. Just One Soldier is a book that contains 80 letters written by Dick in 1954 to his family while serving in the Korean War stationed in Japan. The book also contains the words of a diary written by Dick's mother covering the two and a half years just prior to his death. Photos, family memories, author commentary, and newspaper clippings are also included in the book. Get to know the young man through the letters home from just one soldier.
