Thousands of social science results indicate that a healthy, stable
and happy marriage is an optimal relationship for the
psychological, emotional and physical well being of adults and
children. Functional families are one of the strongest influences
on the growth of human competence, and mental and emotional well
being. At a time when marriage and family are under constant siege,
Kevin Andrews' thoroughly researched book provides a timely and
telling case for making the strengthening of these essential
bedrocks of a healthy society a number one priority. Kevin Andrews
highlights those factors which social scientists from all over the
world believe benefit or detract from marital success, and examines
the ways in which individuals, communities and governments can help
to create more successful marital unions.
"Kevin Andrews has taken Wes McVicar's Clown Act Omnibus to another
level by updating the language and adding missing information that
many in the clowning industry are looking for. It is a must-have
for clowns, method actors, and entertainers of all types and is
especially beneficial for churches, scouting and other youth
organizations. Whether you want walk-around gags for a parade, a
full-blown comedy program, or basic information about clowns, Clown
Skits & More...meets the needs of beginner and experienced
clowns alike." - Don "Doc" Berkoski, Cloud 9 Clowns, Smiles

Teaching Social and Emotional Learning in Physical Education is the
ideal resource for understanding and integrating social and
emotional learning (SEL) competencies into the structure of a
physical education program, alongside physical activity and skill
development goals. This text should be incorporated as a key
resource to guide physical education teacher education courses
specifically focused on social and emotional learning while also
providing supplemental readings for courses related to physical
education curriculum, instruction, assessment, and/or models-based
practice. Similarly, practicing physical education teachers who are
interested in developing a stronger focus on SEL in their teaching
will find that the book provides a comprehensive resource to guide
their professional learning and practice.
"An intense and compelling account of an educated, sensitive
archeologist wandering the back country during the civil war. Half
a century on, still one of the best books on Greece as it was
before 'development.'"--"The Rough Guide to the Greek Islands"
"He also is in love with the country . . . but he sees the other
side of that dazzling medal or moon. . . . If you want some truth
about Greece, here it is."--Louis MacNeice, "The Observer"
"One of the best and most honest books about the modern
Greeks."--E. R. Dodds
In 1947, at the age of twenty-three, Kevin Andrews received a
Fulbright Fellowship to study medieval fortresses in the
Peloponnese. Andrews spent the long summers of 1948 to 1951
traveling through the region and the winters writing in Athens.
This opportunity to travel through little-frequented areas during
Greece's postwar civil war--and before the advent of tourism,
industrialization, or easy communications--brought Andrews into
immediate contact with village populations, shepherd clans, and the
paramilitary vigilantes who kept their own kind of order in the
provinces, as well as with the displaced peasants of the Athenian
slums. The close experience of all these lives took shape in "The
Flight of Ikaros," first published in 1959. Paul Dry Books is
pleased to return to print this modern travel classic.
Kevin Andrews (1924-1989) was a writer and archaeologist. He
wrote many books about Greece, of which he became a citizen in
1975.
