In the series of International Protoplast Symposia the Symposium of 1987 was held in Wageningen (The Netherlands). Earlier Symposia took place in Jena (DDR) 1963, Brno (CSSR) 1967, Salamanca (Spain) 1971, Nottingham (UK) 1975, Szeged (Hungary) 1979 and Basel (Switzerland) 1983. This 7th International Protoplast Symposium was organized by K.J. Puite (Secretary), J.J.M. Dons (Treasurer), H.J.Huizing and E.J.L. Hotke-Staal (Local Organizers), the first three persons being scientists, respectively, from the Research Institute Ital, the Institute for horticultural plant breeding IVT and the Foundation for agricultural plant breeding SVP at Wageningen. Scientific Advisers of the Symposium were A. J. Kool, M. Koornneef and F.A. Krens. The International Agricultural Centre lAC served as the Symposium location. The Organizing Committee decided that the scientific programme of the Symposium should be mainly focussed on protoplast technology of relevance to plant breeding. Therefore research on microbial protoplasts and on secondary metabolites was not included. About 250 scientists from 27 different countries were welcomed at the meeting. Speakers at Symposium Sessions and authors of Poster contributions were asked to hand over their manuscripts for the Symposium Proceedings already at the meeting, permit ting early publication of the Proceedings. These manuscripts give the state of the art of the protoplast research and illustrate the progress since the last Protoplast Symposium.

In der Arbeit wurden universale Notationsgrundregeln festgelegt, mit denen Dolmetscher den Kern ihrer individuellen Notationssysteme bilden koennen. Es sind Matysseksche Notationsregeln mit einem so hohen generativen Potenzial, dass sie von den meisten Dolmetschern bei der Notizennahme angewendet werden. Das von Jerzy Zmudzki entwickelte KSD-Modell wurde um die Phase Speicherung erganzt, die aus zwei parallel verlaufenden Subphasen Memorisierung und Notizennahme besteht, wobei deren Platzierung von der Notationssprache im jeweiligen Moment abhangt. Daruber hinaus wurden die Merkmale der Textsorte Notationstext bestimmt, wobei dieser immer an den AS- und ZS-Text gebundene Text als Subtext zu diesen Texten zu betrachten ist. Die Arbeit liefert auch einen Beitrag zur Diskussion um die Notationssprache(n).

Das vorliegende Buch uber den Elektrounfall behandelt ein Tatsa- chengebiet, das seit etwa drei Jahrzehnten im westdeutschen Schrift- tum nicht mehr monografisch dargestellt wurde. Zwar ist der Elek- trounfall mit Wdlichem Ausgang zum Gluck kein allzu haufiges Ereignis. Er bedroht uns aber in Heim und Betrieb dafUr aufSchritt und Tritt, und wenn es einmal zu einem Unfall kommt, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, da13 er Wdlich verlauft, rund zehnmal hoher als bei anderen Unfallformen. Der elektrische Strom ist also in beson- derem Ma13e gefahrlich, er ist zudem unsichtbar. Der Schutz vor ElektrounHillen mu13 also eine besonders ausgebildete Form von Schutz sein. Dies und natiirlich die immer noch zunehmende An- wendung des elektrischen Stromes in Industrie und Privatbereich lassen den Elektrounfall als ein in vieler Hinsicht besonderes Pro- blem erscheinen. Die Autoren dieses Buches haben sich bemuht, diese Besonder- heiten darzustellen. Die Problematik la13t sich der Sache nach leicht in folgende Teilfragen gliedern: die technischen Fragen der Anwen- dung von elektrischem Strom und daraus flie13ende Gefahren, die biologischen Probleme so1cher Gefahren, die arztlichen Spezialfra- gen (Therapie, Begutachtung) und die Fragen des Unfallschutzes.
