Seeking an escape from his lacklustre existence, and his
overbearing wife, Morgan Sullivan (Jeremy Northam) decides to join
the multi-national corporation Digicorp to become a company spy.
Box set containing all three movies from the popular 'Darkman'
franchise. In 'Darkman' (1990), Doctor Peyton Westlake's (Liam
Neeson) attempts to clone body parts via computer are disturbed
when his laboratory is torched by a gang of thugs, with Westlake
left for dead. Horribly disfigured, he uses his equipment to
survive, reinventing himself as Darkman. Obssessed with getting
revenge on sadistic gang leader Robert G. Durant (Larry Drake),
Darkman is torn by his love for former girlfriend Julie (Frances
McDormand), and struggles to reconcile the two, warring sides of
his personality. 'Darkman 2 - The Return of Durant' (1994) sees the
return of the crime-fighting master of disguise, Darkman (Arnold
Vosloo replacing Neeson as the disfigured superhero), who, using
his former identity of Dr Peyton Westlake, is very close to
discovering the secret of making himself whole again. However, a
certain chain of events causes him to relive the nightmares which
disfigured him, leading him and his assistant to discover that his
old enemy, Robert G. Durant (Larry Drake), is not dead as thought,
but very much alive and kicking. 'Darkman 3 - Die Darkman Die'
(1995) is the final outing for Dr Peyton Westlake (Vosloo), alias
Darkman, who this time round does battle with a drugs baron (Jeff
Fahey). This villain wants to obtain the secret of Westlake's
superhuman strength, and Westlake is thus plunged into a game of
survival.
The differences between running an Indy car on a road circuit and
an oval are covered, as is the struggle to get the best from a car
for the Indy 500 - a task which is described with unusual clarity.
Nigel also describes the story of the 'Big Beast' - the Mercedes
pushrod engine that won the 1994 Indy 500. Sharing in detail his
own view of the importance of suspension geometry, and how it
deviates from present practices, this book also includes personal
views on the Penske years from a number of motor sport figures, and
those of a rival Indy car designer Bruce Ashmore. A fascinating
first-hand behind-the-scenes insight. Included in the story is
considerable detail of Nigel's eight years spent with the Firestone
European Racing Division, covering an area vital to racing car
performance, plus the relationship between a tyre company and its
leading contracted team. The 60s and 70s were rife with tyre wars,
and many interesting stories unfolded during those decades. With
descriptions of the importance of the Race Engineer to the driver,
and to a team's competitiveness, Nigel offers detailed insight to
how an engineer worked with a car and tuned its set-up in an era
before computer readouts and telemetry came to dominate.

The AK47 Assault Rifle is the world's most prolific and iconic
weapon with over 80 million produced. Today, the largest threat the
armies of the UK, USA and NATO are faced with is not nuclear,
biological and chemical weapons but with man's real weapon of mass
destruction, the AK47. Much of what is written about it, both in
books and in the general media is out of date, technically wrong,
incomplete and hard to understand. Nigel Bennett sets out to truly
demystify the AK47 in an easy to read and see format. He takes the
reader through the three original basic models of Soviet design,
the AK47, the AKM and the AK74 and then the differing worldwide
production models. The book gives in-depth coverage of the internal
workings of the AK47, highlighting what makes it the `perfect'
killing machine. What makes this book stand out is the specially
commissioned studio photography.
by Nigel Bennett & P.N. Elrod An ancient enemy from vampire
hero Richard Dun's past, Charon the Assassin, returns and is
literally hell-bent on bloody revenge! He's acquired deadly new
powers that are annihilating the nebulous plane of Otherside and
threaten the very existence of the Realside plane. From the sultry
Yucatan forests to the chill green fields of ancient Glastonbury,
Richard Dun marshals his mortal and immortal allies for a fight
that will span dimensions and centuries of time. He is no stranger
at battling to the death, but how can one earth-bound vampire stand
up to a being able to destroy the gods themselves?
This book focuses upon the relationship between effectiveness and
improvement in schools and colleges. The main theories and research
findings concerning organizational effectiveness and improvement
are brought together within this single volume. The book aims to
provide an understanding of the way in which organizational
effectiveness is conceptualized, measured and realized in practice.
It also explores the ways in which change associated with
organizational improvement is effectively managed. The emphasis
throughout the book is upon making theory accessible and of
practical use to those concerned with organizational effectiveness
and improvement. It will assist practitioners and managers to
understand how improvement can be initiated, managed and sustained
at all levels within the organization. This volume forms part of
the Leadership and Management in Education series. This four book
series provides a carefully chosen selection of high quality
readings on key contemporary themes in educational management:
professional development, reflection on practice, leadership, team
working, effectiveness and improvement, quality, strategy and
resources. The series will be an important resource for classroom
teachers and lecturers as well as those holding designated
management posts in schools and colleges and will provide a
valuable basis for professional development programmes.
Once called Lancelot, King Arthur's greatest knight, Lord Richard
is now a vampire--but still sworn to protect the weak no matter the
cost to himself. When a plea for help calls him to the rescue of a
woman he had loved and lost, Richard must reconcile his ancient
past and a lethal struggle to survive in the present if he is to
ever find eternal peace.
Forces greater than even the magic of Merlin granted him his dark
immortality. Over a thousand years ago he was Richard d'Orleans,
undefeated champion of Normandy, then he was Lancelot du Lac,
Arthur's greatest knight. Now he is Richard Dun, security
specialist in modern Toronto, but still he hears the irresistible
summons of the old ways and...answers them. To save the woman he
loves above all else, he must do the impossible. Once more, the
last defender of Camelot must begin anew his quest for the
grail...and this time to succeed - or die forever.
The pressure on schools to improve and to raise achievement
continues to be a dominant issue in both school and government
policies. School Effectiveness and School Improvement seeks to
develop the debate further, providing academics and practitioners
alike with ? a summary and discussion of research on school
effectiveness and school improvement up to the present; ? new
perspectives on these fields, developed from other traditions of
thinking and research; ? a consideration of the role of
organization theory; ? an integrated view of these current
perspectives; and ? clear, practical implications for policy and
practice.
