It’s hard to live in South Africa for more than five minutes without looking around in wide-eyed bewilderment, and asking: “What the EFF?”.
Whether it’s hippies rubbing their chords together to produce solar energy, militants marching into parliament in Pep Store overalls and Italian shoes, or taxi drivers who manage to simultaneously cut you off and flip you the bird while paging through the newspaper and counting their money… at some point in every day, you will say: “What the EFF?”.
Fortunately, Nik Rabinowitz is here to answer that question. Or maybe not answer it, so much as shake it a bit, and see what falls out. From the leafy green ganglands of Constantia to the imaginary book-storage lockers of Limpopo, Rabinowitz casts his eye far and wide, and muses: “What the EFF?” And if politics isn’t your cup of tea, there’s plenty of other ridiculousness that’ll have you shaking your head, and clutching your sides.
(Recorded live at the Baxter Theatre, 14 March 2015)

Kai (voice of Jeremy Suarez) is tired of only having his stern father (Jackson) for company at their remote home. When he meets an affable stork (Jenifer Lewis) and weaver (Tania Gunadi) and complains of his plight they tell him about the bustling bird city of Zambezia just down the river. Unable to resist the promise of a new life, Kai flees to Zambezia, on the edge of the Victoria Falls, and discovers that it is everything he dreamt of and more. However, with a pair of maribou storks (Grant and David Shaughnessy) up to no good, Kai may learn some of the harsher lessons of life, too. Indeed, when the storks kidnap his father as part of a plan to gain control of Zambezia, Kai will be forced to risk his life to save the city and those he loves.
