"Collected writings on the Trinity, Christ, and the Holy Spirit"
In this collection of writings from one of the most well-known
theologians of the modern era, Packer strongly defends Trinitarian
theology and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ against contemporary
challenges. In so doing, he deals with theological issues such as
atonement, justification and universalism. He calls for believers
to be serious about the Holy Spirit, and his articles on this topic
are valuable examples of how to apply theological beliefs to
controversial issues within the church.
The articles range from short devotional pieces published in
church-sponsored journals, to opinion articles for popular journals
like Christianity Today, to major articles for scholarly journals.

KNOWING GOD is one of the most significant and popular Christian
books of our time and has deepened the faith and understanding of
millions of people around the world. 'Dr Packer says we're cruel to
ourselves if we try to live in his world without knowing about the
God whose world it is and who runs it. I'm convinced we're cruel if
we deny ourselves the wisdom contained in this Christian classic.'

"This is a fascinating overview of the life and labors of one of
the America's most gifted evangelical theologians. Drawing deeply
from the wells of Reformation theology in the tradition of Calvin,
Bunyan, Owen, Edwards, and Bavinck, Roger Nicole has set forth a
compelling vision of theology as a discipline in the service of the
church. And he has done so with grace, wit, insight, passion, and
the kind of wisdom evangelicals need more of today. Though I never
took a class with Roger Nicole, I am certainly one of his students
and I commend this telling of his story to all who care about the
Bible's God, the church's faith, and the world's need for the
gospel of grace." -Dr. Timothy George, "Awesome for brain power,
learning and wisdom, endlessly patient and courteous in his gentle
geniality, and beloved by a multitude as pastor, mentor and friend,
veteran Reformed theologian Roger Nicole comes beautifully to life
in this warm-hearted biographical tribute. Thank you, David
Bailey." - Dr. James I. Packer
In February of 1851, when Royce Oatman makes the fatal decision to
take his pregnant wife and seven children across the Arizona desert
alone in his haste to get to California, they are attacked and
slaughtered by Tonto Apaches. Two of the children, Olive, fourteen
and Mary Ann, eight, are captured and taken to the Apache village
where they endure a year of slavery and deprivation. They are
purchased by the daughter of the Chief of the Mojaves and taken to
the Mojave village where they receive somewhat better treatment but
are still slaves. After Mary Ann dies in a famine, Olive, if she is
to survive, must assimilate into the Mojave tribe. She witnesses
scenes of torture and savagery that disparage any thoughts of
escape. When, after five years of captivity, she is suddenly
returned to civilization, she must re-learn the ways of white
society and never reveal the secrets of her past. Although every
attempt is made to portray her as 'the virgin captive, ' rumors
persist until, in a dramatic climax, Olive reveals the shocking
truth to her husband.
J. I. Packer's insightful and practical approach to understanding
God has impacted countless Christians throughout the world as they
are introduced to the wonder and joy of knowing God. Now available
in a beautiful hardcover edition.
