A set of three dramas. The comedy 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'
(2011), follows the experiences of a group of elderly Brits,
including Judi Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Maggie Smith,
who arrive to take up residence in a newly-opened retirement home
in Bangalore, India. Despite its glossy publicity campaign, the
Marigold turns out to be rather different from the refurbished
luxury hotel advertised in the brochures. However, it soon begins
to reveal some unexpected charms of its own. In 'We Bought a Zoo'
(2011), Matt Damon stars as newly widowed Benjamin, who is finding
life difficult trying to raise his two young children. Urged on by
his father, Duncan (Thomas Haden Church), to start over, he decides
to purchase a rundown zoo in the countryside in the hope that it
will bring his family together again. Having to care for 47
species, and with his friends thinking he's mad, Benjamin sets out
to restore the zoo to its former glory with the help of a small but
loyal staff led by Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson). Finally, in
'The Descendants' (2011), trustee for a large estate, Matt King
(George Clooney) has had a fairly easy life to date. Living in the
tropical island of Hawaii, with his financial future secure, King
has grown complacent to an extent that is only brought home to him
when a boating accident sends his wife, Elizabeth (Patricia
Hastie), into a coma. Left in sole charge of the daughters he has
largely neglected, Scottie (Amara Miller) and Alex (Shailene
Woodley), Matt is called to face his responsibilities as an adult.
However, when he discovers that Elizabeth had been having an affair
in the months leading up to the accident, a test of his newfound
emotional maturity is presented. The film won the Academy Award for
Best Adapted Screenplay.

Drama following the life of the legendary 'Man in Black', Johnny
Cash. The movie begins in 1955, when a tough, skinny guitar-slinger
who called himself J.R. Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) walks into the
soon-to-be-famous Sun Studios in Memphis. It was a moment that
would have an indelible effect on American culture. With his
driving freight-train chords, steel-eyed intensity and a voice as
deep and black as night, Cash sang blistering songs of heartache
and survival that were gutsy, full of real life and unlike anything
heard before. That day kicked off the electrifying early career of
Johnny Cash. As he pioneered a fiercely original sound that blazed
a trail for rock, country, punk, folk and rap stars to come, Cash
began a rough-and-tumble journey of personal transformation. In the
most volatile period of his life, he evolved from a
self-destructive pop star into the iconic 'Man in Black' - facing
down his demons, fighting for the love that would save him time and
again, and learning how to walk the razor-thin line between
destruction and redemption. Reese Witherspoon won a Best Actress
Academy Award for her role as June Carter, Cash's long-suffering
wife.

George Clooney co-writes and directs this adaptation of Robert M.
Edsel's book that follows the men tasked with saving the world's
greatest works of art from the Nazis during WWII. In the last
months of the war, with the Third Reich teetering on the brink of
collapse, the German army are ordered to destroy every piece of
looted art in their possession. In a race against time, American
President Franklin D. Roosevelt mobilises a seven-man platoon
comprising museum directors and art historians to rescue the cream
of the world's artistic and cultural treasures from the hands of
the enemy, and return them to their rightful owners. But with no
previous experience of weapons and tactics, the hastily assembled
group soon face a rude awakening when they experience their first
live action behind enemy lines. As well as Clooney, the all-star
cast includes Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman
and Jean Dujardin.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan directs this fantasy sequel based on the
Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as
Eric the Huntsman who has been trained by the embittered Ice Queen
Freya (Emily Blunt) to become a solider in her army of deadly
hunters. When she realises that Eric and another, Sara (Jessica
Chastain), have broken her one sacred rule - that her huntsmen
forever harden their hearts to love, they are banished. The fate of
the kingdom may be in their hands however, when Freya brings her
sister, the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron), back from the
dead using the Magic Mirror and their combined power threatens to
cast the land into darkness.
