Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

R. H. Charles interprets the words of the twelve patriarchs, a pseudepigraphical work which offers insight on the spiritual perspectives and dialogue between members of the twelve tribes of the Old Testament. The testaments are famed today for containing apparent references to the arrival of Jesus Christ, as well as parallels with the Gospels. Robert Grosseteste, a 13th century theologian and philosopher who discovered the texts, accused Middle Eastern scholars of concealing the writings given the apparently prophetic references to Jesus' arrival on Earth. A fine companion to Biblical readings, this book brings the scholarly skills of the author together with the ancient passages of wisdom. We gain an impression of life in the ancient world, and how humans employed faith in the Lord in the battle against sins and the throes of chaotic passions. Most importantly of all are the predictions in the Testament of Levi; thought to predate Christ's birth, several passages are comparable to the Book of Matthew.

The Book of Baruch is a Bible pseudepigrapha; a deuterocanonical work attributed to Baruch ben Neriah, the scribe of the prophet Jeremiah. The Assumption of Moses is a Jewish apocryphal work concerning hidden prophecies that Moses revealed to Joshua prior to the latter inheriting his leadership of the ancient Jews. Together these works constitute typical examples of popular Biblical texts which are extra-canonical; most Christian and Jewish groups do not regard their contents as true. Their origins are definitively proven to be several centuries after the time they purport to be from. However, theological scholars have expressed some interest, particularly given the time and context of the writing; being as these pseudepigrapha are old texts, they themselves carry value. This edition contains a lengthy, explanatory introduction by W. O. E. Oesterley, and the well-regarded translations of Bible scholars R. H. Charles (for Baruch) and William John Ferrar (for Moses).

The apocryphal Book of Enoch, suppressed by the Church and then lost for many centuries, is believed to have been written in the first century or earlier. This edition-translated by British biblical scholar R. H. CHARLES (1855-1931) and first published in 1917-tells the story of the fallen angels, who appeal to Enoch the Prophet, great-grandson of Noah, to speak with God on their behalf after He banishes them from heaven. Enoch travels to heaven, describing what he sees there in detail, and speaks with the angels and ponders their nature. The book, in its original Hebrew or Aramaic, is believed to have influenced the writers of the New Testament, and while not considered canonical scripture, its apocalyptic themes continue to be highly influential today in modern popular Christian End Times fantasy, such as the Left Behind series. The Book of Jubilees, an ancient text which details the history of the division of the Laws of Moses, is presented here complete. The text discusses the laws revealed to Moses and treats his character as a second creator of the world. Each chapter covers a range of history spanning 49 years, with Moses life story and other principal events told over a course of 2,410 years. Perhaps most importantly from a theological perspective, the book discusses the angels and how these entities formed a vital component of the Earth's creation. Enoch was taught by fallen angels; through them, he discovered writing and history. We also hear that early man was formed from a mating of Earthly humans and fallen angels, but that these hybrids were killed during the Great Flood.
