In 'The Nut Job' (2014) sassy squirrel Surly (voice of Will Arnett) and his mute rat friend Buddy decide to tackle their park's food shortage problem by stealing from a dangerous group of urban animals. But, their plan goes awry as they come face-to-face with urban leader Raccoon (Liam Neeson). After a series of unfortunate collisions, Surly is banished from the park leaving Buddy to fend for himself. 'Sammy's Great Escape' (2012) follows ageing turtle Sammy (Alan Shearman) as he is swept away on an adventure to Dubai. When Sammy and his lifelong friend Ray (Khary Payton) are caught by poachers they find themselves destined to become part of an aquarium display. As the duo plan an escape, along with their new acquaintances which include a blob fish, a lobster, an octopus and a group of penguins, their young grandchildren go off on an adventure of their own in an effort to save their grandpas. In 'The Any Bully' (2006) Lucas Nickle (Zach Tyler) is a ten-year-old boy whose family has just moved to a new town, and Lucas isn't enjoying it much. He hasn't made any friends yet, his big sister ignores him and his parents are occupied with their upcoming vacation to Mexico. To make matters worse, the local bully has targeted Lucas and is making his life miserable. After finding a large colony of ants in his yard, Lucas takes out his frustrations by stomping, drowning, and burying the bugs, not realising that the ants see him as a threat to their safety and aren't about to take his attacks lying down. Zoc (Nicolas Cage), the wizard ant, creates a formula that shrinks Lucas to the size of an insect, and the tiny boy is brought before the leader of the Ant Council and the Queen of the Colony (Meryl Streep) to answer for his crimes against the ants. Showing compassion, the Queen sentences Lucas not to death, but to live among them to see how difficult their circumstances can be. In 'The Reef' (2006) Pi (Freddie Prinze Jr), an ordinary fish from Boston who arrives at the exotic reef to live with his Aunt Pearl (Fran Drescher). He is immediately attracted to Cordelia (Evan Rachel Wood), the fish of his dreams. There's just one problem - Troy (Donal Logue), the meanest shark in the ocean, who not only patrols the reef keeping its community in fear of becoming his next meal, but also has his eye on Cordelia and wants her for himself. Pi must join up with his new group of friends and try and outwit Troy and his henchmen, save the reef and win Cordelia.

THE SKILLED HELPER has taught thousands of students a proven, step-by-step counseling process that equips them to become more confident and competent helpers. Internationally recognized for its successful problem-management and opportunity development approach to effective helping, the text emphasizes the collaborative nature of the therapist-client relationship and uses a practical, three-stage framework that drives client problem-managing and opportunity-developing action. As they read, students also gain a feeling for the complexity inherent in any helping relationship. In the eleventh edition, Gerard Egan and new co-author Robert J. Reese emphasize the "power of basics," which are the key ingredients of successful therapy. The authors name, simplify, clarify and organize these basics, showing students what they need to understand and DO to be effective helpers.

This completely updated second edition of MICROCONTROLLERS: FROM ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE TO C USING THE PIC24 FAMILY covers assembly language, C programming, and hardware interfacing for the Microchip PIC24 family, a recently updated microcontroller family from Microchip. Hardware interfacing topics include parallel port usage, analog-to-digital conversion, digital-to-analog conversion, the serial peripheral bus (SPI), the inter-integrated circuit bus (I2C), asynchronous serial communication, and timers. Assembly language programming is covered in the context of the PIC24 instruction set, and no initial knowledge of assembly language programming is assumed. Specific hardware interfacing topics covered are parallel IO, analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog conversion, pulse width modulation, timer usage for IO polling, and industry standard serial interface standards. Interfacing examples include external devices such as pushbutton switches, LEDs, serial EEPROMs, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), keypads, rotary encoders, external digital-to-analog converters, DC motors, servos, temperature sensors, and IR receivers. Master the PIC24 family with MICROCONTROLLERS: FROM ASSEMBLY LANGUAGE TO C USING THE PIC24 FAMILY.

Finite State Machine Datapath Design, Optimization, and Implementation explores the design space of combined FSM/Datapath implementations. The lecture starts by examining performance issues in digital systems such as clock skew and its effect on setup and hold time constraints, and the use of pipelining for increasing system clock frequency. This is followed by definitions for latency and throughput, with associated resource tradeoffs explored in detail through the use of dataflow graphs and scheduling tables applied to examples taken from digital signal processing applications. Also, design issues relating to functionality, interfacing, and performance for different types of memories commonly found in ASICs and FPGAs such as FIFOs, single-ports, and dual-ports are examined. Selected design examples are presented in implementation-neutral Verilog code and block diagrams, with associated design files available as downloads for both Altera Quartus and Xilinx Virtex FPGA platforms. A working knowledge of Verilog, logic synthesis, and basic digital design techniques is required. This lecture is suitable as a companion to the synthesis lecture titled Introduction to Logic Synthesis using Verilog HDL.

Roots & Remedies of the Dependency Syndrome in World Missions (Paperback): Robert Reese Roots & Remedies of the Dependency Syndrome in World Missions (Paperback)
Robert Reese

The Christian movement is entering a new postcolonial era with centers of the faith on all continents. American Christians have often felt uniquely qualified to lead this growing movement because of a long history of sending missionaries and funding mission projects. Yet something is hampering the relationship between Western and non-Western churches, preventing the dynamic synergism that Christians might expect. Roots and Remedies of the Dependency Syndrome in World Missions, Robert Reese identifies this hindrance as the Dependency Syndrome, a relic of colonial mission methods. With three decades of experience in Zimbabwe, Reese explains the roots of dependency and how this continues to cloud the vision of many well-meaning Western Christians. He documents the tragic results of relying too much on foreign ideas, institutions, personnel, and funding that sideline non-Western churches from fulfilling the Great Commission. Reese addresses remedies for dependency, examining healthy mission models tried and tested since the days of the apostle Paul. From issues that arise from globalization to best mission practices in the twenty-first century, Roots and Remedies aims to achieve what most Christians are seeking but find elusive: how all parts of the diverse Body of Christ around the world can cooperate productively to bring Christ where He is not now known without creating dependency.
