This kinetic-mojo poetry book was loosely designed to be read
outloud, as a performance piece. It can be read as a standard
poetry book; however, these versifications lend themselves best to
a traditional jazz accompaniment-but this is not a hard and fast
rule. (Play with it.) And please feel free to stop in on any local
coffeehouse open mic night; and if you're feeling bold enough; use
these words... until you've found your own. Tell them, "Rorry
Nighttrain East sent me." Perhaps... you too will find out that you
are an "August-messenger," and together we may just re-inspire the
grand revival of (bongo and bass guitar background music), with the
elan of spoken poetry-to be an art form that will live on.
Despite the fact that his restless pen fondly leaps to any number
of haunting and diverse subjects, in this vivid tome we glimpse a
sensuous side of Rorry Nighttrain East that we've not clearly seen
before. Take the chapter: "AUTUMN'S CATALYST," for example. The
author inserts something completely new into his repertoire with
the shadowy inclusion of a semi macabre Halloween motif. Then, we
notice the striking and philosophical epigrams so subtly placed at
each chapter's terminus. This too, is a brand new gleaming facet
which has been added to a once known writing voice. A someone, of
whom it seems, will not be neatly placed into one categorical box;
for he's presently busy and always reinventing himself. It's a
marvelous read!
This rare book is Rorry Nighttrain East's most sophisticated piece
of (prose-style) poetry work, to date. It is a bantam pocket book
collection filled with lone whispers and loud labor pains of a
thinking through; the Here and Now. For HERE and NOW, is surely
that magic stuff of which our lives are composed. His comment on
this refined book was, "May you never have enough pockets to
contain it all."
