The main objective of this book is to provide insights into recent
advances in distributed intelligent circuits, systems and their
applications. Distributed intelligence is the key enabler for
innovations in machine-to-machine communications. The innovations
are directed towards keeping existing algorithms as the base and
developing new intelligent systems by employing smart technologies.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and, more specifically, deep learning
(DL) are receiving significant attention in assisting doctors in
the detection of disease patterns without much human intervention.
In agriculture, robots automate slow, repetitive and dull tasks,
allowing farmers to focus more on improving overall production
yields. The evolving trends point to the interface of artificial
intelligence with machines being a factor in enhancing the
decision-making capabilities of smart machines. This book provides
relevant theoretical frameworks that include basic models,
algorithms, circuit designs and the latest developments in
experimental aspects in the field of distributed intelligence
systems for industrial applications. The challenges encountered in
the development of models for distributed intelligence systems for
environmental monitoring are mitigated with artificial
intelligence, machine learning and deep learning. This book
identifies challenges and helps in applying solutions in the
development of advanced intelligent systems for environmental
monitoring.
Web browsing would not be what it is today without the use of
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). Although much has been written
about SOA methodology, this emerging platform is continuously under
development. Exploring Enterprise Service Bus in the
Service-Oriented Architecture Paradigm is a detailed reference
source that examines current aspects and research methodologies
that enable enterprise service bus to unify and connect services
efficiently on a common platform. Featuring relevant topics such as
SOA reference architecture, grid computing applications, complex
event computing, and java business integration, this is an ideal
resource for all practitioners, academicians, graduate students,
and researchers interested in the discoveries on the relationship
that Service-Oriented architecture and enterprise service bus
share.

Most of the oral dosage forms possess several physiological
limitations such as variable gastrointestinal transit because of
variable gastric emptying leading to non-uniform absorption
profiles, incomplete drug release and shorter residence time of the
dosage form in the stomach. This leads to incomplete absorption of
drugs having absorption window especially in the upper part of the
small intestine, as once the drug passes down the absorption site,
the remaining quantity goes unabsorbed.Since many drugs are well
absorbed in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract, such high
variability may lead to non-uniform absorption and makes the
bioavailability unpredictable. Hence, a beneficial delivery system
to control and prolong the gastric emptying time and can deliver
drugs in higher concentrations to the absorption site to show local
action in the stomach requires a specialized delivery system. So
the purpose of this study was to lengthen the stay of drug in its
favorable absorption area and prolonging the release of the drug by
formulating it into an effervescent gastro-retentive drug delivery
system.
The mints, taxonomically known as Lamiaceae or Labiatae, are a
family of flowering plants. Mentha spicata (Spear Mint or
Spearmint) is a species of mint native to much of Europe and
southwest Asia, though its exact natural range is uncertain due to
extensive early cultivation. It grows in wet soils. It is an
invasive species in the Great Lakes region of North America where
it was first sighted in 1843, although it is grown widely across
northern India.Spearmint grows well in nearly all temperate
climates. Gardeners often grow it in pots or planters due to its
invasive spreading roots. The plant prefers partial shade, but can
flourish in full sun to mostly shade. Spearmint is best suited to
loamy soils with plenty of organic material. Spearmint has also
been described as having excellent antioxidant activity; its
antioxidant activity was found to be comparable to the synthetic
BHT. Due both to its antioxidant activity and its common use in
cuisine. The leaves of Mentha spicata are also used to suppress the
sprouting nature in potato crop.
Biological sequence alignment is one of the crucial tasks of
computational biology, and provides base for other tasks of
bioinformatics. It has been consistent effort of researchers to
employ different techniques for sequence alignment so as to get
better results. This book is an adaptation of the master's
dissertation, which was a research initiative carried in the field
of biological sequence alignment. The work was about two distinct
approaches to sequence matching - Boolean algebra and Fuzzy logic -
a two-valued logic and a multi-valued logic. Both the methods
determine the similarity between the sequences by direct comparison
method using the operations of Boolean algebra and Fuzzy logic
respectively. Then on the basis of their degree of similarity,
multiple DNA sequences are aligned progressively using dynamic
programming to ensure optimal alignment. The methods are
implemented in MATLAB(r) and tested on various sets of DNA
sequences of different 'influenza A virus' types taken from NCBI
bank. Three different aspects of the discussed approaches have been
assessed using different data sets.
