Adaptation of Philip Roth's short novel, 'The Dying Animal', about
an elderly college professor's affair with his young student.
Respected professor of literature David Kepesh (Ben Kingsley) seems
to have it all, a long-term relationship, a good job, and a
comfortable lifestyle. But all that is turned upside down when the
normally retiring, 62-year-old professor is drawn to one of his
students, 24-year-old latin beauty Consuela Castillo (Penelope
Cruz). As the relationship deepens, the usually free-thinking
academic Kepesh finds himself becoming more sexually possessive of
his new love-interest, a situation that quickly changes his
personality and threatens to undermine his status and social
standing.

Television film drama about Todd McCray (Noel Fisher), a young man
with mental health problems. During Christmas vacation, a nearby
animal shelter begins an 'Adopt a Dog for Christmas' scheme. As an
animal lover, Todd encourages those in his neighbourhood to
participate in the programme and he, himself, becomes very attached
to one dog. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear why his father
is not entirely supportive of Todd's attempt to help the animals.
Double bill of sci-fi action dramas based on the original film
series. In 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' (2011), Will Rodman
(James Franco) is a genetic engineer working in present-day San
Francisco performing scientific tests on apes in his attempt to
find a cure for Alzheimer's. His first test subject is Caesar (Andy
Serkis), the prototype of a new breed of ape with human-like
intelligence. But when Caesar breaks free a revolution is triggered
and an epic war for supremacy breaks out between humankind and the
primates of the world. In 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014),
Ceasar, now the leader of a growing band of cognisant simians,
starts the process towards a truce between the apes and the humans.
Many consider the outbreak of war to only be a matter of time
however, since the human population has been vastly reduced by a
devastating virus and their role as the dominant species on Earth
is in question. As the tension increases it may only take a single
spark to trigger an explosive war that will pit the humans against
the apes in an all-out battle for survival...
