Starch is one of the major components responsible for the structure
of final food products. A recent report by Industrial Starch
Market predicts the industrial starch market to reach about
106.64 billion by 2022. The major portion of the starch volume will
be contributed by conventional sources like maize, wheat and
potato. These native starch sources are well capable to meet the
industrial requirements. However, modification of starch brings lot
of positive changes in functional and structural properties of
starch. As compared to their native counterparts, modified starches
are gaining a significant market growth due to their enhanced
functionalities and applications. Starch: Advances in
Modifications, Technologies and Applications provides
comprehensive coverage of the most recent advances in the
modification techniques, their impact on functionality of starch
and potential application food industries.  Starch is
a vital ingredient for food processing industries and it has been
covered thoroughly in different books. However, none of the books
currently on the market have covered the most recent advances in
modification techniques and their derivatives including
the functional, engineering, thermo-pasting, rheological,
structural and morphological properties of starch. This
text comprehensively covers almost all the starch
modifications, reviewing the derivatives of modification techniques
and compiling all the changes in properties to provide an
understanding and perspective of these innovative applications.
From the history of starch production to current chemical and
physical modifications, this book offers researchers all the
information they need on starch modifications in a single
source. Â

Stem Cells: An Alternative Therapy for COVID-19 and Cytokine Storm
provides mechanistic insights into the role of stem cells to combat
COVID-19 outbreak and other pathologies where cytokines storm is
the cause of concern for e.g., radiation exposure, multiple organ
failure and sepsis. There has been an increase in number of cases
of new diseases in the last decade, including mucormycosis, Zika
virus, H1N1 influenza virus, among others. These diseases can be
characterized by the induction of cytokine storm, which is mainly
responsible for morbidity and mortality. Stem cell therapy has
emerged as a potential treatment for viral diseases, including, but
not limited to, COVID-19. Interestingly, clinical trials in
patients with COVID-19 complications depicted faster recovery in
patients post mesenchymal stem cells therapy owing to the decreased
cytokines levels, anti-viral effects and regeneration of the
infected tissue.
Network security is a serious global concern. The increasing
prevalence of malware and incidents of attacks hinders the
utilization of the Internet to its greatest benefit and incur
significant economic losses. The traditional approaches in securing
systems against threats are designing mechanisms that create a
protective shield, almost always with vulnerabilities. This has
created Intrusion Detection Systems to be developed that complement
traditional approaches. However, with the advancement of computer
technology, the behavior of intrusions has become complex that
makes the work of security experts hard to analyze and detect
intrusions. In order to address these challenges, data mining
techniques have become a possible solution. However, the
performance of data mining algorithms is affected when no optimized
features are provided. This is because, complex relationships can
be seen as well between the features and intrusion classes
contributing to high computational costs in processing tasks,
subsequently leads to delays in identifying intrusions. Feature
selection is thus important in detecting intrusions by allowing the
data mining system to focus on what is really important.
In modern industrial world, engineering components are prone to
more rapid surface degradation such as erosion-corrosion,
overheating, wear, solid particle abrasion, high temperature
corrosion, etc. Due to above surface degradation, major problems
causes tube wall thinning, results in premature failure of the
super heater and reheater tubes. Alloys used at high temperature
should possess good mechanical properties along with erosion -
corrosion resistance. The present study behavior of boiler steel
ASTM-SA213 T-22 (used in most of the power plants in the Northern
India) has been investigated for high temperature erosion-corrosion
behavior in the uncoated as well as coated condition. Detonation
Gun thermal spraying process was used for coating on boiler steel.
SEM/EDAX, XRD and X-ray mapping analysis done to reveal the
microstructure and compositional features of boiler steel. The
microstructure indicates uniform and dense coating.
Thermogravimetric techniques is used to investigate the
erosion-corrosion behavior at 900 C for 1000 hours. SEM/EDAX, XRD
and X-ray mapping techniques were used to analyze the corrosion
products."
When faced with the challenge of restoring an endodontically
treated tooth, the dentist must decide, first, whether the post is
required and second, the type of restoration that is indicated.
Earlier a post was thought to strengthen the root of an
endodontically treated tooth. But it is widely held today that the
primary purpose of post placement is to retain the core buildup
material or to reinforce the remaining coronal tooth structure. It
is difficult to discuss the longevity of teeth restored by a post
because there are many variables to control. The long term clinical
success of an endodontically treated tooth is dependent on many
factors. The successful treatment of a badly broken down tooth with
pulpal disease depends not only on good endodontic therapy, but
also on good prosthetic reconstruction of the tooth after
endodontic therapy is completed. The decision to place a post is
based on several parameters. These include the position of the
tooth in the arch, occlusion, function of the restored tooth,
amount of remaining tooth structure and canal configuration.
India will account for 20 per cent of the world's global workforce
in 2020s. The average age of Indian workforce will be 29 years as
compared to 37 for the US and China and 45 years for Europe. A need
for skill development and skill up gradation among the labour force
as a result of challenges that globalization and changing job
patterns posed came in the form of increased emphasis on
understandings to be developed with respect to 1. Which skills are
to be developed? 2. What are the strategies adopted of skill
development of rural populace? 3. Has the supply driven strategies
been able to cater to market demands? 4. What is the quantum and
quality difference in the two? As the emphasis concurrently is on
identification of right skills and developing of the same as a
bottom-up approach in order to have 500 million skill manpower in
the country by 2022 (that is end of 13th five year plan) the paper
is an attempt to making a critical appraisal of demand supply
realities in a backward district of a backward State in India.

This thesis covers three aspects of Microstrip antenna designs. The
first is the analysis and design of single element rectangular
Microstrip antenna which operates at the central frequency of 2.4
GHz and the second aspect is the design of dual band rectangular
Microstrip antenna which is operates as 2.4 & 3.08 GHz. Both
antennas have been modeled, designed and simulated. The simulation
process has been done through IE3D electromagnetic software which
is based on method of movement (MOM). The third is the interfacing
between IE3D/PSO (MATLAB). In this part optimization is done
through Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm using IE3D
simulation software. The technique has proven successful for many
electromagnetic problems and is a robust and stochastic search
method.
