Born & educated in the Netherlands, Michelle Lucking has always had a close, emotional affinity to water. She was inspired at an early age by the beauty of light reflections on the canal that ran alongside her house. This developed into a deep love of the ocean in her adult years.

Today Michelle lives by the coast in North Somerset, England, and spends many hours photographing the changeable & powerful nature of the sea & sky in order to create unique compositions for her paintings. Through the use of Unison Colour soft pastels she ultimately strives to paint not only an image, but also to capture the sense of emotion & wonder evoked by the ocean.

Her work has a realistic appearance, but with a softness and vibrance only achievable with pastels. She regularly exhibits as a full member of the Pastel Society of Ireland. Emma paints what she loves, British and Irish wildlife, local landscapes and any figurative scenes which interest her. Emma Colbert: ' The top row of lights should cover light coloured animals. The bottom row of browns should cover a lot of different brown families while the grey and blue shades will cover black animals.
