Golden Isolation Coat is meant to be applied between acrylic colour and removable varnish.

Jackson’s Removable Acrylic Varnish dries to a protective, flexible, dust resistant surface over acrylic paint. It is excellent quality and also protects against UV damage. Jacksons Acrylic Varnish is permanent and removable. We recommend applying two coats of the varnish, with an interval of at least 4 hours between coats. It should be applied in thin coats with a clean brush. This varnish is available in Gloss, Matte, and Satin formulas.

The varnish will become milky if applied when the acrylic underneath isn't fully dry. Acrylic that is touch-dry (acrylic has formed a skin, but still isn't dry inside) may take a few weeks to fully cure, especially if it is thick. If applied to touch-dry acrylic, the acrylic underneath will take much longer to dry fully, as it has been sealed, but it should eventually become clear.

Removing Varnish

Starting in a corner of the painting, dip a clean cloth into some turpentine and very gently rub the surface of the painting. The varnish should come off onto the cloth - remember to keep a close eye on the cloth and if you see colour coming off then stop. Working in small areas, make your way across the surface of the painting and try to keep using a fresh piece of cloth. This will help lift the varnish rather than simply spreading it about.

Pebeo's Silicone Oil is an additive for acrylic colors and for use with pouring mediums. The Studio Acrylics Silicone Oil creates beautiful cells when applied to wet color or wet color and medium mixtures. Artists should adjust the amount dropped into the mixture to obtain their desired effect. Only a few drops are usually required to create the beautiful cell-like effects (3 to 8 drops maximum depending on the amount prepared).

The bottle includes a pipette stopper for optimal dosage during application. Please be aware, if there is too much silicone oil it can create holes in some areas of the mixture when applying.

MSA Varnish forms a tough and flexible protective finish that provides an increased resistance to the harmful effects of UltraViolet radiation. Recommended for either interior or exterior use. For use on acrylics, oils, tempera, watercolour, and various other media. It reduces dirt penetration and surface marring, offering an extremely level film with less foam and fewer pinholes. Removable with turpentine after drying.

For acrylics, an isolation coat is recommended before applying the MSA Varnish - this will help protect the surface if the varnish is ever removed. It will also seal any absorbent areas, which will result in a more even application of varnish.

MSA Varnishes must be thinned before use.
